Our 2021 spring sermon series on 2nd Corinthians is called Life Through the Cross. In this letter, Paul and the Corinthian church are in the midst of relational strife and Paul displays deep care for the church as he models a cross shaped life. A cross shaped life is a life that is informed and formed by the life of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul takes up a number of life issues that must be addressed in light of the saving power of the cross of Jesus. In this series we will explore Paul’s teaching on the Christian life and suffering, hardship, death, endurance, and generosity. In the midst of all of these experiences, Paul teaches that Christians find their comfort and strength in Christ and not in themselves.
2020 was a year of hardship, death, and a need for endurance. Many of us are weary, angry, or simply numb. Yet, Paul invites all of us to a renewed vision of the “God who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” 2 Corinthians 1:4.
Please join us as we all learn together, the comfort of God in the midst of our hardships, disappointments, and adversity.
