In January 2007, the elders of the Central Florida Presbytery (PCA) invited Ted and Tricia Sinn to move to Orlando with their family. The call that was given to them was the planting of a church downtown. NewCity (previously CityChurch) was planted with the generous, patient and sacrificial support of many churches and pastors. At the end of 2007, CityChurch was well on its way. The three original small groups that were launched in the Fall of that year had become six and the church began to meet for Corporate Worship on Sundays. Over the past five years, our small groups have continued to grow and multiply and we have worshipped together in 8 different venues.
On January 13, 2013, NewCity launched the Downtown Site. Presently, NewCity Central meets for Worship at The Florida Hospital Church while NewCity Downtown meets at The Cathedral at St. Lukes.
Presently, Eric Stites is gathering and training a Core Group in order to plant NewCity Holden Heights, our third contextualized worshipping community.
Our Community Groups continue to meet throughout the week as the truest and fullest expression of NewCity Orlando.
We are humbled, grateful and shocked by what God has graciously chosen to do here. He has indeed planted a church that eagerly desires to see more churches planted in Orlando and around the world. In addition to active partnerships with Church Planting Movements in San Diego/Tijuana, and India, NewCity has launched a Church Planting Residency to support our multiplication efforts in Orlando and beyond.
NewCity is excited to see the future God has for her.
